Hope Chapel is a Christian community of families and singles, working professionals, and university students and faculty, celebrating and living the good news that in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, God has restored peace with his creation by restoring us to relationship with himself. With this great news, we are a people striving together to live by faith, loving and being loved, sharing in struggles and hope, and pushing one another toward God’s perfectly planned redemption of our world in Jesus Christ.

OUR PURPOSE

We are a covenanted community that exists:

  • To Glorify God
  • To Guard the Truth of Christ
  • To Go make disciples to the ends of the earth

by drawing those living in the greater Baltimore area with the hope of the Gospel; rooting them in Christ-centered doctrine, life and community; and sending them out into the world as ambassadors of the Gospel.

OUR VISION

Because of the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we long to be a community of love and hope moved to engage God’s mission of renewal in the greater Baltimore area.

In addition to being a center for business and the arts, Baltimore is a major educational hub. With over 15 universities in the greater Baltimore area, the observation that the university has replaced the church as the moral center of our society carries great weight. We strive to apply the Christian faith in ways that engage not only in the challenges of vocation and family life in the city, but those of the academy as well.

OUR AFFILIATIONS

We anchor our life together in the historic expressions of the Christian faith known as the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed. In addition, the breadth of church history impacts our priorities, our practices, our mission, and our government. We trace our theological roots to the Reformed branch of Protestantism, outlined in the Belgic Confession (1561), the Heidelberg Catechism (1563), and the Westminster Standards (1646). We identify with the Presbyterian tradition, which provides us with a system of government and accountability. We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
